Academic use

SDH provides its original website content and curated compilation for non-commercial academic research and teaching without a license fee, unless a resource states otherwise. You may consult, analyze and quote this content in scholarly work with appropriate attribution.

This permission applies only to material that SDH is entitled to license. It is not a blanket license for all downloadable data, publications, software or images. Service quotas and separately stated access conditions still apply.

Third-party data and software

Genome assemblies, annotations, sequencing datasets, publications and other materials obtained from external repositories remain subject to their original licenses and terms. Integration, annotation or linking by SDH does not transfer ownership or replace those terms.

Check the source record and its license before copying, modifying, redistributing or using a resource commercially. Where an original license already permits a use, this page does not withdraw that permission. Public availability alone does not establish unrestricted reuse; if terms are unclear, contact the original provider.

Third-party tools, embedded services and software components retain their own licenses and access policies. SDH cannot grant permission on their behalf.

Citation and attribution

When using SDH in a publication, acknowledge Strawberry Data Hub and cite the original studies and repositories for the datasets used. Include accession numbers, assembly or annotation versions, and the date of access where relevant. Preserve source attribution and license notices when redistributing material under a license that permits redistribution.

Suggested resource acknowledgement: “This study used Strawberry Data Hub (SDH; https://sci.hainanu.edu.cn/strawberry/; accessed [date]).” This acknowledgement does not replace citations to the original data providers.

Commercial use

For commercial use of SDH-owned content or its curated compilation, including incorporation into a paid product or service, contact the SDH team to discuss permission and licensing terms before use. An enquiry does not itself constitute permission.

Any permission from SDH covers only rights held by SDH. Additional permissions may be required from data owners or software providers. This policy does not restrict public-domain material, rights granted directly by an original provider, or uses otherwise permitted by applicable law.

Responsible use

Use the database in accordance with applicable laws, research ethics and source-specific access conditions. Do not bypass access controls, misrepresent the origin of data or disrupt the service. Use the provided download routes for bulk data and contact us before sustained automated retrieval.

Do not submit confidential or restricted information to public analysis tools or externally hosted services without the necessary authorization. Review the relevant provider’s terms before submitting data.

Research use and service limitations

SDH is a research resource. Although we curate and check records, datasets may contain errors, omissions or version differences. Computational annotations, associations, predictions and AI-generated responses require independent evaluation and are not substitutes for experimental validation.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, resources and services are provided as available, without warranties of accuracy, completeness, uninterrupted availability or fitness for a particular purpose. Nothing on this page excludes obligations or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Links to external resources do not imply endorsement. Their content, availability and policies are controlled by their respective providers. SDH names, institutional names and logos may not be used to imply endorsement without authorization.

Permissions, corrections and updates

For licensing enquiries, unclear source permissions or requests to correct or remove material, use the contacts listed in our FAQ. Please include the resource URL, accession or version, intended use, and relevant rights information.

Changes to this policy will be dated on this page. Resource-specific licenses and previously granted rights remain subject to their own terms.
